Intergalactic Sheep Pong

It is the 24th century, and the age-old conflict between farmers and ranchers continues.

You have been chosen to represent your space farming colony in the annual “Horsehead Hoedown.”* In it, you will compete head-to-head with the largest genetically-engineered space sheep the neighboring ranchers can muster. Use your ship to keep the varmit corralled, and acquire materials for the construction of your colony’s suborbital grain elevator.

Yee-haw!

*FAQ

Q: Why is the event called the Horsehead Hodeown?

A: The event is named after the Horsehead Nebula, which is where the hoedown takes place.

Q: Why can’t I see the Horsehead Nebula in the game?

A: Because it’s behind you.

Intergalactic Sheep Pong – A Unity Tutorial

The above game was made with Unity3D and grew out of a tutorial I wrote for the first UniKnowledge contest. EDIT: I have now updated the tutorial. It now features improved gameplay logic, nicer graphics, a few sounds, and more. The tutorial covers the creation and tuning of a simple pong-like game, which consists of bouncing an intergalactic sheep around a box with your ship.

If you are new to Unity, I hope you find it helpful.
